D3 History

  • August 1988


    Richard Denley forms D3 Computer Supplies and Print, specialising in supplying magnetic media and print products to customers in the Hull area operating from South Orbital Park, Hull.

  • October 1990


    D3 acquires KCS, a small stationery supplier that helps extend the D3 range into stationery products as well as print.

  • February 1998


    D3 merges with Peace and Taylor, a Hull stationer that had been operating in the area since 1930. The owner, Chris Shepherd, and his team join the business.

  • July 1998


    The company changes its name to D3 Office Group to better represent its enlarged product offer

  • September 2003


    Land is purchased on Malmo Road Hull and the company later move into these enlarged premises with considerable room for future expansion

  • December 2005


    Martin Shaw joins the business from D3’s largest supplier, acquiring retiring Director Chris Shepherd’s stake in the business. Richard and Martin subsequently buy-out a sleeping partner to become equal 50% shareholders

  • April 2006


    D3 acquires Euro Business Products, a Hull based supplier of printed forms and office products. Key Euro Business Products employees join the company in print, operations and furniture positions.

  • September 2009


    The goodwill of Crescent Office in Hull was acquired from the liquidators after this long standing Hull interiors company hit hard times.

  • November 2009


    D3 acquires Boston Office Solutions, one of Yorkshire’s most renowned suppliers of office products. The acquisition brings with it a highly experienced team of people and facilitates the start of D3’s operation in West Yorkshire

  • May 2010


    Timstat of Yeadon, Leeds, is acquired from the Mitchell family who had run the business since the 1930s. In fact, the company had changed its name from Mitstat to Timstat during the 2nd world war, as it was thought “Mitstat” sounded too German! The Timstat business is folded into D3’s Leeds operation.

  • October 2012


    Diamond Print Express, a workwear and print business, is acquired from Pete Kenningham who becomes D3’s Workwear Director. Since the acquisition workwear sales have more than doubled and have become a key part of D3’s offer.

  • April 2013


    Bardsey Stationery, of Boroughbridge in North Yorkshire is acquired from the Potter family. Natalie Burchell joins the business as Account Manager and the business is merged into D3’s Leeds operation

  • July 2016


    TLC of Ripon is acquired from the Lawrence family. Sandra and Finlay Lawrence join the company and help transfer the business to run from the Leeds operation

  • September 2016


    D3’s online presence is dramatically developed with a new website that incorporates enhanced data and images, improved search facilities and filters and company information.
